Trajectory — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 6, 2026

Trajectory is an independent, one-person project. This page covers both the Trajectory web app and the Trajectory LinkedIn Job Grabber browser extension.

The Trajectory app

What's stored, and where. Your profile, resume text, extracted skills, saved jobs, application pipeline, and usage counters are stored locally in your browser (localStorage), on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to a server by default.

Optional sign-in and cloud backup. If you choose to sign in with Google or email/password, that same data is copied to a private database record tied only to your account, so it can follow you to another device. Security rules restrict that record so only you can ever read or write it. If you don't sign in, this never happens.

AI features. When you use resume tailoring, cover letters, or interview prep, the relevant text (e.g. a job description and your resume snippet) is sent to an AI provider (Google Gemini by default, or Anthropic/OpenAI/Gemini if you add your own API key in Settings) to generate the result. That exchange is governed by that provider's own privacy policy. If you add your own API key, it stays on your device and is never sent to us or synced to the cloud.

Payments. Upgrading to Plus is handled entirely by Stripe's own secure checkout. We never see or store your card details.

Trajectory — LinkedIn Job Grabber (browser extension)

The extension adds one button to LinkedIn job pages. When you click it, the extension reads the job posting you already have open — its title, company, location, and description — directly from the page in your browser.

That job data is sent nowhere except a Trajectory tab that opens on your own device. There is no server in between, no background collection, and no tracking of your browsing.

The only thing the extension stores is the Trajectory app URL you configure once, kept locally in your browser's storage.

Analytics on the marketing pages (this site's homepage and guide — not the app)

The homepage and guide page use Google Analytics (GA4) to see aggregate numbers like how many people visit and which link they came from (e.g. Reddit vs. a search engine). This is standard, anonymized-at-scale web analytics — it does not identify you personally, and it is entirely separate from the Trajectory app itself, which stores your data locally as described above and has no analytics of any kind.

What we don't collect

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties, and we do not use it for any purpose beyond making Trajectory work for you and understanding how people find it.

Your choices

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's release notes.
